Pumpkin Pie Contest

CASH Prizes • Judged by Local Chefs

To create a nostalgic, small town Americana atmosphere, the Albany Chamber of commerce is sponsoring its first-ever and soon to be a tradition "pumpkin pie baking competition". The contest is free and open to all. Entries must be baked pies (no tarts) . Pies will be judged by professional chefs and celebrity judges, based upon taste/flavor = 40 points, overall appearance = 30 points, crust = 20 points, and texture 10 points.

Drop off your best pumpkin pie between 11 and 12:30. Judging begins at 1pm with winners announced between 3pm and 4pm. Prizes are $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place (two winners), and $25 for 3rd place (three winners). The contest is free. An entry form will be available on this site, and at various locations prior to the event (and at the event itself).

Pumpkin Carving Demonstration and Contest

CASH Prizes • Free Carving Demonstration

Then, join us at 2:00 for a Pumpkin carving demonstration and chance to carve your own pumpkin and enter it in the Pumpkin Carving Contest. This kid-friendly event invites you to create the scariest, funniest or just the most creative pumpkin you can. We'll have pumpkins on-hand that you can buy for $1, or you can bring your own. We'll have a pumpkin "Gunk Squad" on site to speed up the emptying of pumpkins to make the carving faster and easier.

Carved pumpkins will be judged by a panel of Albany celebrities and prize ribbons will be awarded at 4:30. Then, we'll light up all the pumpkins for photos with the carvers!
