Centennial Banners are all up!
With the very generous help of Past President Dana Milner, we've completed the mounting of the Centennial Street Banners. 53 Banners, entirely sponsored by local businesses, organizations and individuals, have been mounted on Buchanan Avenue, San Pablo Avenue and Solano Avenue.

Upcoming Ribbon Cuttings
The Chamber is planning two ribbon cuttings on May 17th. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at Bright Star Montessori School, 1370 Marin Avenue and the Velvet Moss gallery, 627 San Pablo Avenue in Albany.

Banners going up!
You may have noticed the new Centennial Banners appearing this weekend. We were able to get the banners posted on Buchanan and Solano, and even got some of the banners up on San Pablo. We'll be mounting banners next weekend too and hope to have them all up by next week!

Recycle Your Rebate Program Launches
The Recycle Your Rebate in Albany program is launching this weekend with posters being placed along Albany streets, the new program web site launching, and the program postcards scheduled to go out early next week. This is a joint program between the City of Albany, the Solano Avenue Association, the Chamber of Commerce, and Mechanics Bank.

Centennial Banners Going Up
The Centennial Street Banners will be appearing above Albany streets beginning this weekend. Banners will first be installed on Buchanan and Solano Avenues, and will then be placed along San Pablo Avenue.

Chamber Is Accepting Appications for Albany Citizen and Youth of the Year Awards.
We are now accepting nominations for the 2008 Albany Citizen and Albany Youth of the Year awards. You can email or mail your nomination letter detailing why your nominee should be given this award. A Chamber dinner will honor the award winners.

City Considers Smoking Ban for Solano Avenue and Multi-Family Dwellings
The City Council is considering a proposed ordinance for banning smoking on Solano Avenue as well in common areas of multi-family dwellings.

Centennial Banners on Schedule
The Centennial Banners are at the printer and are expected back within the week. Mounting of the banners and the new brackets on San Pablo and Buchanan will take place over the next several weeks (it's a BIG job!). We're delighted with the program and are looking forward to seeing these beautiful banners up and flying!
