Albany's Gourmet Hamlet

Small town Albany is blessed with incredible diversity, folks coming to live here from around the world, bringing with them the best of a hundred different cultures.

And much of that is reflected in our restaurants and cafes...

Where else in the Bay Area can you find the finest foods from Hungary, Italy, Vietnam, France, Mexico, the Middle East, China, India, and Japan, not to mention terrific garden salads, wonderful pastas, the world’s finest gourmet pizza, delicious seafood, and more. Have a hankering for charbroiled steaks, chops, or kabobs? Try Zaytoon on San Pablo. For fresh pastries and cappuccino, Royal Brand Coffee (a new internet cafe on Solano and Kains). Albany also has many restaurants that serve fine wine and microbrews, all in an area that is in walking distance from your home.

In Albany you can start your day with a terrific breakfast (The Royal Café, Walkers Restaurant and Pie Shop, the Sunny Side Café, and Jodie’s Restaurant), watch a fabulous movie (Albany Twin Theaters), sip organically grown hand-picked whole leaf tea from China (Celadon/Teance Fine Teas), enjoy Mexican food (Christopher's Nothing Fancy Cafe), devour pollo mole, sip margaritas, then dance salsa and meringue (Monteros Restaurant and Club), sample extraordinary Indian delights (Café Raj), incredible tapas that are all the rave and sumptuous (Albany Bistro and Fonda), the finest food from southern France (Nizza la Bella), terrific crab cakes and early-bird specials (Cape Cod Seafood Restaurant), great pizza, pasta and Italian (Cuginis), or treat yourself to California Cuisine and more (Solano Grill and Bar and Bearegards California Bistro). Then there’s fabulous Chinese food (Renee’s Place and Claypot Seafood Restaurant), three outstanding Thai restaurants, (Bua Luang, Ruen Pair, and Thep Naaree), sushi, tempura and more (Sugata Japanese Restaurant).
